Retirement Villages

Retirement villages are designed for people aged over 55 as an alternative housing and lifestyle option. They are popular with people who feel they need more security, support or company, but who want to maintain their independence.

Retirement Villages are housing developments offering a range of accommodation options, services and facilities

The style of accommodation provided in  retirement villages include units, villas, townhouses, apartments and freestanding homes. Accommodation can include independent living units, serviced apartments and hostel accommodation.

The accommodation in a retirement village is designed for seniors and may include additional fixtures and fittings, such as handrails, emergency call buttons and intercom systems.

Retirement villages should not be confused with residential aged care. Retirement villages cater mainly for people who are able to live independently. Although some villages have aged care facilities on the same site or an adjacent site.

Many retirement villages also provide communal facilities such as community rooms, swimming pool and spa, gymnasiums, bbqs, coffee shop, hairdressing, men’s shed and a village bus available for organised excursions.
